What it is
In plain terms.
Back pain is more than discomfort. It can stand between you and a full life. Our care focuses on removing nerve interference, which we believe is key to the body's natural healing, and on finding the root cause so the pain eases now and is less likely to return.
By diagnosing the cause of your pain, we can build a personalized plan with guidance on lifestyle changes and at-home exercises to stop it recurring.
The signs
When it is worth coming in.
- Sudden, sharp pain after an injury, incorrect lifting or an abrupt movement.
- Pain that has lasted more than three months, often from posture, repetitive stress or an underlying condition.
- A herniated disc irritating a nerve.
- Pain that radiates down the leg, which may be sciatica.
- Back pain during pregnancy.
What to expect
How we treat it.
Acute back pain
Adjustments come first, to reduce inflammation and improve joint function, with therapeutic exercises and soft tissue therapy for spasms.
Chronic back pain
Regular adjustments, lifestyle changes such as ergonomics, diet and stress management, and rehabilitation exercises to strengthen the body.
Herniated discs
The flexion-distraction technique gently stretches the spine on a special table, moving the disc away from the nerve to reduce inflammation and pain.
Pregnancy-related back pain
Safe, medication-free relief with adjustments and exercises that strengthen the pelvis and back.
What patients say
Quoted as they appear on our website.
“Since fracturing my L1 and L2 vertebra in a car wreck in ’95 I have always had back issues. I had been to several local chiropractors in Columbus, but none helped eliminate the pain. Premier was the first to actually take the time to address the areas that needed help, and set me up on a plan that has greatly reduced the pain! I love it!!!”
“Each of the Chiropractic Doctors in the office do a great job and care about each person. It has really made a difference in how I feel (no back/shoulder pain and even got ankle/foot pain stopped). I didn’t know a simple stretching exercise would keep the ankle pain gone. They get you in and out in a very timely manner. The office staff are wonderful.”
Questions
Answered from what we tell every patient.
Will I need an x-ray?
Not every patient does. X-rays are usually taken for persistent injury or pain, or conditions such as scoliosis, osteoporosis or spinal stenosis.
Is it safe during pregnancy?
Chiropractic care offers safe relief without medication, with adjustments and exercises to strengthen the pelvic area and back.
Will the pain come back?
Your plan includes lifestyle guidance and at-home exercises to stop it recurring. Maintenance care is preventive care, so painful episodes come back less often.
Can you help a herniated disc?
Yes. We use the flexion-distraction technique, and spinal decompression where it fits your case.
